Long story short, this bump presumably a lymph node has been there and been about that size since 2016 (when I was 13) or even before then! I know this isn’t going to be the same for everyone, but when I was younger I’ve had alot of ear infections (18 tubes total from my memory), plenty of run ins with the flu, strep throat, etc. These can pop up from illnesses like strep throat, the flu, etc. Thats when I noticed a bump on just above my left clavicle that was painless, obviously enlarged, and not tender. Anyways, I could feel and see the swelling from the lymph nodes, some that were tender, some were not which scared me. Anyways, my cold or whatever I had lasted roughly a week to 10 days before I truly felt better, but during this I had alot of anxiety that would cause rapid heart beat, some over heating, and some chest tightness as well. I recently had gotten a cold contracted from my son that weirdly enough created alot of anxiety for me, because I never truly paid attention to my neck during these kinds of infections and noticed i was swollen! Was talking with my mom that was a lead at a nursing home for the longest time, (meaning she looked over the meds, took care of meds, amongst other things) so I of course asked her if this swelling and stuff was normal, as the first 2 days I had shortness of breath causing me to use my nebulizer, nearly constant congestion, along with some post nasal drip and not one single time i checked my temp did I break a fever. I have ezcema, allergic-asthma or asthma as a whole, allergies (dogs, cats, trees, nuts, penicillin and a cpl of other things), insomnia, anxiety. I am a current vaper (attempting to quit) indulge in marrijuana as well. For starters, I am a 20 year old Dad, 2 yo son, with a wife thats about 8 months pregnant. This is going to be a long comment, but maybe this will help some of you in the anxious aspect. Some nodes may stay there permanently so also be aware of that! Please don’t worry, go get it checked out and give it a month or more to drop back to where it should be. The confirmation bias on there is nuts for us health-anxious folk. Obviously for piece of mind, I recommend going to the doctor just to have them confirm it but do not listen to Google. If you don’t have awful symptoms (night sweats, fever, cough) to go along with it, you are fine. If your node is elliptically shaped (like an egg), you are fine. So even if you have a node that is hard at first or suspiciously large or in the spot where it is the highest chance to have cancer, YOU DO NOT AUTOMATICALLY HAVE CANCER, DESPITE WHAT GOOGLE SAYS. It didn’t show any signs of getting smaller for 4 weeks then randomly decreased a significant amount. He told me to come back if it didn’t go away or if it got bigger or if I got more symptoms. I went to the doctor the next day and the doctor described it as shotty (resembling a shotgun pellet) and most likely it is nothing to worry about. Naturally I googled myself into having cancer shortly after I noticed it because google said hard = cancer, big = cancer, supraclavicular = cancer. I was recently going through a time where I had a single node that was pretty large 1.5cm in length and unknown width.
